History: AlvarAlice Foundation was founded in 2004 to promote understanding about Colombia in the United States and to support the initiatives of Fundacion AlvarAlice in Cali, Colombia and other non-profit organizations in Colombia that support peaceful resolution of conflict through projects in education, peacebuilding, civic action and income generation. It is a non-profit organization 501 (c) 3 under the laws of the State of New York.
Fundación AlvarAlice was established in 2003 by the children of Alvaro Garcés and Alice Echavarría– Enrique, Elena, Emma and Maria Eugenia- to continue and expand their parents’ philanthropic legacy. Through business enterprises and philanthropic leadership, the Garces-Echavarria family has contributed for several generations to the social and economic development of the City of Cali and the Cauca Valley.
